JAMÓIGE Frequently Asked Questions:

 

 

Can we bring Venture Scouts as helpers because they help out in the group anyway?

Yes you can Venture Scouts, however they will no count against the recommended Scouter to Youth ratio.  Also please note there will not be a separate programme for Venture Scouts.

Will there be programme for Scouts?

No this is a Beaver and Cub Scout / Macaoimh National Event, programme will only be provided for these two sections

 

Can I bring a campervan and what would the cost be?

The site is unsuitable for brining campervans onto site.

 

What will the programme be for the weekend?

The programme for the Cub Scout / Macaoimh camp will consist of 5 programme zones, celebrations and sub camp activities.  As you can understand there needs to be an element of surprise for both Scouters and Youths alike

The programme for the Beaver camp will consist of 2 programme zones, celebrations and sub camp activities. As you can understand there needs to be an element of surprise for both Scouters and Youths alike

 

When will I be told about the programme?

Reference the above question. 

 

What equipment do they need to bring?

In addition to this as per the initial information pack to assist you in your Planning for JamÓige, the following information will be supplied during March to assist you in the best way possible, on receipt the booking deposit:

  1. JamÓige Supermarket Listing & Order Form
  2. Suggested campsite equipment list
  3. Suggested participant equipment list
  4. Information on local transportation options / links

Are there toilet and shower facilities?

There will be toilet facilities on site, however there will be no shower facilities available.  It is encouraged that each site incorporates a camp wash station.  Details and suggested designs will be included in the subsequent information packs.

 

Can Cubs come for part of it?

No the event is structured with 5 programme zones spread over the 4 days which link into each other.  A cub that does not attend the full weekend will miss out on part of the "linked" programme activities.

 

Can Beavers just come for the day?

No the Beaver event is specifically designed with an overnight incorporated into it and there will include some late evening activities.  The Beaver event is designed so that Colonies are no longer than 36 hours away from home including transport.  So as you can imagine we will be starting in the late afternoon of Sunday in order to achieve this.

 

Should I as a leader brining my Cubs / Beavers have a plan B?

You should always have a Plan B in relation to your own transport and equipment plans.  However extensive planning has gone into the event taking into account risk reduction and mitigation.  Several off site facilities have been put on standby if indoor accommodation is required for any section of the event.

 

How many leaders do we need, Cub Camp?

Please note that Non Adult Scouters and Venture Scouts do not count as Leaders. This term more correctly applied is Adult Scouters. The Adult Scouter Ratio for the Cub Scout / Macaoimh Camp is

Please note that Non Adult Scouters and Venture Scouts do not count as Leaders. This term more correctly applied is Adult Scouters. The Adult Scouter Ratio for the Beaver Camp [Sumber night] is

How is food arranged?

On receipt of your deposit, a list of competitively priced foodstuffs available from the on site Supermarket will be sent to you by post.  This will include meats, fruit, vegetables, dairy, dry groceries etc

If you wish to avail of this service an order form will be included allowing you to list the items you require for the Camp and on what day you want them delivered – i.e. if you require Chicken on the Sunday it will be available from the on site Supermarket fresh on Sunday morning and held for you

Please note that this will be a pre-order and pre - payment facility only

Apart from the pre-order facility there will not be a fully stocked shop on site 

 

Can leaders children come if they are not Beaver age but younger (with the cubs)?

Yes, however we must know who is coming and who will be the legal guardian of them over the course of the weekend.  Programme of separate facilities will not be provided specifically for these children.  They will remain the responsibility of the legal guardian at all times and must be accompanied by them.  They will not be permitted to partake in any of the activities for reasons relating to insurance.

 

Is there a Family visiting time?

The event is only 4 days, Friday evening to Monday afternoon.  There will be no family visiting time due to the short period of the event.

 

Is there a family camp?

No there is no family camp facility due to the short period of the event.

 

How will security work?

There will be a dedicated site security team operating in conjunction with the Help Desk and Logistics team.  Access onto and off the site will be controlled at all times.

 

Can Cub packs camp together?

Cub Packs will be mixed around the Sub Camps to ensure they get the true JamÓige atmosphere and meet cubs from different parts of the country and not just their own Scout County of Scout Province.
