Scouts : National Scout Representitives

What is the National Youth Representatives (Scouts)?

A National Youth Representatives (we just call them Youth Reps) is a Scout or Venture who is elected at the National Youth Forum who serves for a year representing Youth Members at national level. There are nine Scout and nine Venture Scout Reps; six of each are elected on a Provincial level and the other three of each are elected to a National Panel. The Youth Reps have their own Committee which meets regularly, they also get to work with people like the Chief Scout and the Programme Commissioners. And they go to National Council.

What is the National Youth Forum?

The National Youth Forum is an annual gather of Scouts and Venture Scouts from acrossIreland. At the Forum Youth Members (that’s you) discuss matters which are important to them. Each County elects three representatives to the National Youth Forum; these delegates bring forward ideas and concepts from theCountyForumswhere they are discussed. Some of these ideas are turned into motions and if passed that are taken by the National Youth Representatives and made happen. The Forum also elects the National Youth Representatives, we’ll talk about them now.

Make sure to check out the easy Guide to Organising a County Youth Forum on the main Scouts page.
