JamboRí & Events Update
Dear Group Leader,
I hope that you and your Scouts are benefitting from the good weather and are getting out and about to enjoy the outdoors.
The reason why I am writing to you is to allay any concerns you may have with regards to the finances of national and international events. As I noted at National Council, we have 2-3 months reserve in place for scouting operations, this means that we have funds to run national and provincial offices until mid-June. We are working diligently to secure additional resources as soon as possible to ensure that we can continue to operate efficiently.
I wish to assure you that any monies already received or due to be paid for ANY event will be ring fenced for use on that event ONLY. JamboRí 2018 WILL be going ahead as planned in Stradbally, Co. Laois and it is set to be an AMAZING once in a lifetime experience for many young people.
The JamboRí team are working meticulously to ensure that every participant experiences quality scouting and makes memories to cherish for life. The prudent management of funds will ensure that each participant will be afforded value for money.
We are Scouts and we Scout! We are resilient and we will always find a positive way forward! The Programme Teams are working on final preparations for national events such as The Phoenix Challenge. Programme Commissioners will notify you of the arrangements and payment terms for each event. I ask that you please adhere to the payment terms of each event as, while we are committed to running all events as normal, we are not in a position to make payments to suppliers without funds being in place – simply put we need money in before we can pay money out. I appreciate that this may be difficult for some Scout Groups but the Programme Commissioners and their teams are working extremely hard to ensure programme delivery for which I thank them and urge you to support them and work with them.
Yours in Scouting
