Scouting Ireland has established a scheme for property insurance for Scout Groups and Scout Counties
This policy provides property insurance cover for assets that are “fixed” (e.g.: Buildings - Dens, Campsites, etc.) as well as those that are “not fixed” (e.g.: General Contents – Equipment and specific scouting property that can be used outside of Dens), so the policy is therefore available to Scout Groups regardless of where they meet (Den, School, Community Centre, etc.) and the policy is available in respect of premises owned or leased where Scout Groups/Scout Counties have a responsibility to insure same.
We have also developed an easy to use reinstatement calculator to allow Scout Groups and Scout Counties to realise their property value, with respect to reinstatement costs of buildings.
We have worked with Scouting Irelands insurance broker to develop a simple process for applying for property insurance. Simply complete the proposal form and return the information including the reinstatement calculator to the dedicated Marsh contact, Alisha Byron, and they will revert to you with the details of your policy. Please note that you only need to return the reinstatement calculator where you are requesting fixed property insurance, if you are simply insuring equipment, this is not required.
I do hope that you will find this insurance support of benefit and that it will ease some of the administrative burden when dealing with this important matter.
