30 Rovers and Scouters from across Ireland are currently taking part in the inaugural Scouting Ireland Alpine Moot 2025, a high-altitude expedition focused on developing advanced alpine skills.

Based in the mountain village of Saas-Grund, participants are spending the week immersed in alpine training, including mountaineering techniques, glacier travel, and high-altitude safety. As part of the program, teams have already completed successful ascents of major peaks such as Allalinhorn (4,027m), Weissmies (4,017m), and Jegihorn (3,026m).

The aim of the Alpine Moot is to equip Scouting Ireland’s adult leaders with the technical and leadership skills needed to bring alpine experiences to young people back home.
