As we begin a new Scouting year, it’s a great time to make use of resources that can help set up your section for success. Whether you’re welcoming new members, building youth-led programmes, or preparing for inclusive investitures, these tools will support you in creating a strong start.
Starting Back: First 6 Weeks
The FIRST 6 WEEKS resource is a tool to help you get your section up and running for a new scouting year. It includes advice on setting up small groups (Lodges, Sixes, Patrols/Watches, Crews), meeting suggestions, and ideas for activities. Access the resources here:

Youth Led Programme Guide
Are you looking for some ideas on how to get the young people in your sections more involved in decision-making? The National Youth Programme Team has produced a short guide to help with this. You'll find an overview of how to use the Scout Method to enable youth empowerment in each section, a check-list to self-assess their progress in being youth-led and a suggested activity.
Inclusive Investitures
In 2015, a third secular Scout Promise was introduced to Scouting Ireland.
Ten years on, we thought it was time to reflect on our Promise and on ensuring that our investiture ceremonies are open and accessible to all.
At the start of the new Scout year, we have new Youth Members joining our movement and experienced youth members moving on to new sections. To help with preparations for investitures a new "Inclusive Investitures" guide has been created, as well as Promises posters for each of our sections, which include the different versions of our Promises and which are in a dyslexia-friendly font.
They are designed in A2 format, so you can print out large copies that can be placed on the walls of your Scout Den. You can also print smaller A4 versions that your youth members can use when reciting their Promise.
