From April 23rd to 27th, 38 participants and 12 adult volunteers took part in Mountain Havoc GB 2025, an adventure that brought Scouts from Ireland to the stunning Scottish Highlands.
The journey began in Dublin, with an early start on Thursday morning for the ferry from Belfast to Cairnryan, made possible by the generous loan of three minibuses from Irish Scout groups. After a full day of travel, including a scenic five-hour bus ride, the group arrived in Fort William, ready for the days ahead.
Friday marked the highlight of the event: the successful summit of Ben Nevis, the UK's highest peak, by all participants. On Saturday, many of the group continued their mountain achievements by climbing Buachaille Etive Beag, followed by an afternoon of adrenaline-filled activities. Scouts had the opportunity to take part in Fun Yakking, Via Ferrata, and Gorge Walking, hosted by the experienced team at Vertical Descents Outdoor Activity Centre.
Sunday brought the adventure to a close, with the group making the return journey to Ireland by bus and ferry, tired but full of memories from a weekend of challenge, camaraderie, and exploration.
