Scouting Ireland representatives met yesterday with Minister Hildagarde Naughton to discuss plans to develop the island’s first purpose-built neurodiverse Scout Den. The meeting was attended by Brendan O’Gorman and Paul Mannion from the 14th Galway Scout Group, and Seán Sheehan, CEO of Scouting Ireland.
The proposed facility represents a significant step towards creating inclusive, accessible scouting spaces that support neurodiverse young people and ensure they can fully participate in scouting activities in a safe, welcoming environment.
Scouting Ireland welcomed the opportunity to outline its plans and thanked the Minister for her engagement and continued support for the initiative.
During the meeting, Scouting Ireland also presented the Minister with its Good Deed coin, symbolising the organisation’s core values and its practical commitment to helping others, doing one’s best, and making a positive contribution to the communities it serves.
